Photonic Crystal Integrated Circuits

Our group is involved in the European IST project called PCIC. PCIC stands for Photonic Crystal Integrated Circuits. The project runs over three years and started in January 2000.

PCIC aims at the demonstration of ultra-compact optoelectronic devices based on photonic crystals. Passive and active devices are to be demonstrated, all based on photonic crystals (and therefore ultra-compact) : from the simple waveguide towards advanced functionalities required by multiplexing in telecommunications such as add/drop filters, as well as sources (lasers).
