single enzyme electrochemistry : SEE project financed by ANR

by Anne-Marie - published on , updated on

The development of new biotechnologies is tightly bound to our understanding of biological systems and our capacity to efficiently integrate biomolecules such as redox enzymes in electronic devices. The actual trend toward the miniaturization of bioelectronic devices reduces considerably the number of enzymes approaching in the case of nanoscale device the single enzyme level. At this point our knowledge obtained from large ensemble measurements is insufficient for a correct understanding of these systems. It is thus critical to develop new tools for studying the activity of one or few enzymes. In this project we propose a new approach for studying via electrochemistry the catalytic activity of one or few redox enzymes. The impact of the project on our understanding of biological object at the nanoscale will stimulate the development of innovative technologies.
